I bought it for a gift, so haven’t used the cookbook, but it looks very easy for anyone to use just starting off cooking……….

I try never to miss the author’s telecasts on Food Network and was really looking forward to her latest book. I am always looking for cookbooks that have easy recipes for meals that I can serve my family. I was disappointed in this book–too many unusual and stir-fry recipes. Maybe “healthy,” but certainly not “luscious.” I would not recommend it to people who like hearty food.

Easy? More like Martha Stewart easy. Many of the recipes have long ingredient lists (15+ items). I eat a lot of healthy, fresh, organic food, but I don’t think I’ll be making many of these recipes. Having said that, there are some true gems in this book, such as “blueberry-almond french toast bake,” that you make the night before. I think this will be our new Christmas morning breakfast. There are several “to go” lunch recipes, interesting wraps & sandwiches, that will likely make it to my kids’ lunchboxes.
This book has beautiful pics of many of the recipes, and every recipe has detailed nutrition into, including what vitamins and minerals are abundant in the recipe. Another really nice thing about this book is that the recipes are presented as a complete meal, such as “chipotle orange glazed pork chops with maple squash puree and spinach-green apple salad.” I know I’ve tried new recipes and wondered “what the heck would go with this?”, and she takes care of that here.
So, basically, if you tend to be more of a gourmet “California Cuisine” type chef, you will probably absolutely adore this book. As for me, there are some stellar recipes that I know my whole family will like, but most will go untested in my kitchen.

So Easy by Ellie Krieger is a beautiful cookbook filled with decadent photos of elegant foods–breakfasts, lunches, dinners and desserts. For me however, there is hardly anything I can eat! I am a Weight Watcher and when I calculated some of these meals, they came to 11 and 12 points. That’s half of my point allotment for the day! While these recipes look amazing, why would I make them? I cannot afford to use my points for one meal that isn’t going to be very filling. Maybe if you’re having guests over, you could try one of these as a special occasion. Other than that, as a dieter, this does not help me.

This is a wonderful cookbook. I love the pictures and the easy to cook healthy meals. I love Elle on tv and she did not disappoint. There are a ton of receipes I can’t wait to try. The ones I have tried so far have been wonderful. It is great to have a beautiful cookbook to be inspired to cook healthy.
