I’m used to commercial baking equipment, so I put a lot of effort into finding a home mixer that would stand up to the strain of making large batches of hearty yeast breads. This is the one I chose, and I have to say, it’s worked out pretty well. It doesn’t “walk” across the counter like some of the smaller mixers I’ve used, and I haven’t managed to burn out the motor yet (though the casing does start to get rather hot after 8 or so minutes of bread mixing). The splash guard is actually relatively useful, and it’s easy to remove if it starts to get in your way. I would definitely recommend adhering the the recommendations in the owners’ manual as to how much dough the mixer can handle at once – you can put more than that in, but it’s hard to get it well mixed and the dough tends to ride up the mixing arm and pick up grease.
