I spent hours on line researching burr coffee grinders. My old retro style Kitchen Aid grinder died after 7 years. Kitchen Aid no longer makes that model.
First problem: I paid for expedited shipping which I did not recieve. I called customer service and they refunded me the extra shipping cost. At least customer service was helpful.
Second problem: I took it apart to clean the unit for the first time after reading the instructions. I placed the burr grinder back into the unit. Then I replaced the hopper. The hopper became totally locked into place when I tried to turn it to the grind setting. I had a heck of a time trying to removing the hopper again. I was able to but then I could not remove the burr grinder. The little handle just popped off rendering the unit useless.
I am returning this with a note. I do not want a gift card or another grinder. It also irks me that $6.95 will be deducted from my refund to cover shipping it back.

It performs very well and is easy to use.
Definite improvement over previous Braun
model. Worth the money.

While I love the conical burr grinder, I don’t like the static I get when grinding & transferring to the coffee maker (hence, 4 stars instead of 5)…..any ideas? It does grind quite nicely. To the statement about unplugging it when not in use; I use it every day & when you plug it back in, it needs to be re-programmed for the # of cups, so I don’t unplug. Not a major problem, but not something I want to do. I like the blue cast it gives to the corner it occupies on my counter.
I get 1/2lb. bags of coffee, shade grown/free-trade, & find one bag fits nicely in the hopper.

I gave this to my boyfriend as a gift and he loves it. You can pick how fine or not fine you want the coffee beens gounded up. Example auto drip, expreso.
You also can pick how much you want to grind, so you don’t have to grind alot at once if you don’t want too. My boyfriend said works well, makes good coffee, and looks great with matching coffee maker.

We grind our own beans because, although we both drink coffee every day, we have to limit ourselves to 1-2 cups a day. Since we don’t go through it as quickly as we used to, we love the freshness guaranteed by grinding it daily.
This grinder is easy to use, easy to clean. It does a very good job and is very flexible for when you want to change the grind setting. Most days, though, you just want the same grind and amount each time. That’s the real beauty of it. In the morning, getting ready for work, time is of the essence. All it takes is a button press and there’s the ground coffee. It’s quick and relatively quiet compared to my old grinder.
